For human and faerie alike, apertures into the faerie realm are never seen but felt. When nearing an orifice, a tingling sensation would spread throughout your body; your fingers and toes would appear numb, and a slight light-headedness would become apparent.
If you take note, distinct markings can sometimes be seen bordering an aperture also. Such as a ring of mushrooms, commonly known as a fairy ring. These fairy rings can be found to be only centimeters to well above ten meters in diameter. Another significant indicator nearby may be that of a magnificent tree draping of slender branches with featherlike leaves, similar to that of a weeping willow. The leaves of this tree would glow a soft silver under moonlit skies looking like a magic all its own.
Apertures can be found in many places throughout the earthly world. The Atlantic Forest of Brazil, the Sierra National Forest of California in the US, and the Daintree Rainforest of Australia, just to name a few.
